At Arlary House we have many ownership options available. We cater for sole owners, partnerships and racing clubs. We can guide you through horse purchase, ownership set up, registration and VAT registration.

Purchasing your horse is one of the most important parts of ownership and we approach the choice and acquisition of the horse in our usual professional holistic manner. Bringing together the judgement of those at the top of their trade we use a form man, Paul McIvor, to judge the form of horses in training, our equine orthopaedic vet, Eugenio Cillan Garcia to be sure that the horse is fit for purpose, and our own eye for the horse. There is no hiding place as we have to stand by our judgement and train the horse selected so we must source the best that we can.
We often have horses immediately available for inspection and sale, see the For Sale page. We also love buying to order and sourcing quality horses who have the scope and ability to win races. We purchase both privately and at sales in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and USA. Horses previously purchased by us include the Aintree Grand National winner One For Arthur, Cheltenham Festival winner Brindisi Breeze, black type winners and placed horses Kerry Lads, Strong Resolve, Mirage Dore, Green Flag, Tap Night, Thorpe, Samstown and multiple winners Catch The Perk, Etxalar, Quito Du Tresor, Blenheim Brook, Kris Cross, No Deal, Degas Art, Dotties Dilema, Kingswell Theatre and Final Assault.
We have a well run club connected to the yard, Tay Valley Chasers, offering friendly ownership at a budget price. We run a few partnerships, including ten person, eight person and four person share partnerships, all of which are sensibly run with a racing manager and offer part-owner benefits.
We are regulars on the Irish point to point circuit and have two excellent contacts in Ireland watching the form and performances in the point to points and on the schooling grounds.
We use an excellent and proven agent in France who sources jump horses exclusively for our yard; he will purchase privately and at bloodstock sales.
Owners are welcome to accompany us to Ireland and France to view a selection of horses for sale, and to attend point to points and race meetings.
For 2019/20 our training fees for full training are £47.40 per day, or £1,910 all-inclusive training per month. We offer generous discounts for those with multiple horses. Our transport fees are amongst the lowest at 75p per mile for owners covered by the 'Edinburgh Gin' yard sponsorship. We have reduced fees for walking, conditioning work and out of training horses. Unlimited use of our water treadmill is charged at £80 per month for those in training and recuperating horses under veterinary advice. All fees are subject to VAT but this can be reclaimed under the VAT Scheme.
We would be delighted to welcome you as an owner and to share the excitement of horse racing with you. Please email Lucinda to discuss your requirements, to arrange a visit to the yard and to see our facilities; details on the 'Contact Us' page.
We attend the major bloodstock sales and can view, assess, vet and purchase horses on behalf of prospective owners. We use our own bloodstock agent, Paul McIvor who only sources horses for us, providing focus and desire to buy the best for the yard and our owners. If you would like to attend the sales with us to be part of the excitement of acquiring your new horse we can arrange catalogues, hotel accommodation, and sales day advice.
Horses bought at sales and subsequently resold to stay in the yard are free of profit or sales day expenses incurred by us. They are subject to the sales company's commission, agents commission and VAT where applicable. Cost of transport and livery from time of purchase to time of resale will be charged.
