The horses continue to run well although we have hit a small run of second placings; not quite as exciting as wins but many satisfying performances from our team.
At Hexham we were enthusiastic about the chances of Misfits who was stepping up to four miles over fences. Despite being a little keen in the early stages he jumped with more fluency and, sent for home early, he went clear before…
What a run from Big River to be fourth in the Ultima Chase at Cheltenham!
Having had a tricky preparation this season; a fall first time out then a hurdle run to boost his confidence, he had to return to his best at a championship level, and he certainly gave it a go.
Turning in to the home straight Big River had fourteen horses in front of him, but with quick jumps at the last…
Having had a busy few days racing Jaimie and the team have had an intense day reloading the lorries ready for the rest of the week.
We have put the finishing touches to Big River, a zim up the gallop and schooling over the chase fences should see him spot on for the Ultima Chase at Cheltenham tomorrow.
I have always thought of Big River as a class horse and while he has had just…
Kelpies Myth had a well deserved win at Musselburgh this afternoon, enjoying the softer conditions and galloping away from the others after the last. A good looking son of Dutch Art he is not truly bred to be a hurdler but his accurate jumping and honest attitude gives him an edge, and it is excellent for his owners to win at Musselburgh where they are looked after so well. They are pictured in…
Carlisle was a moderate day: poor Ryalex was running another super race and was disputing the lead when he got low at the third last and lost his balance on landing: he has come home sound and we look forward to getting him in top form for his next run. Prince Dundee made an error early on and took time to get back into the race; he is a lightly raced five year old and looked more confident by the…
Some horses just love racing and Deepsand is one of them. Having been off for six hundred days this was his second race back and his true athletic body is nearly complete. Waited with as usual he ran into the race down the home straight and just failed to catch the leader, having a good tussle with the second placed horse. He will be even trimmer next time and we are looking forward to having him…
A quiet day on the yard for a Monday as the horses had a routine canter and a couple schooled, including Gars Bar Dine who runs tomorrow at Newcastle. Our event rider, Gregor Knox, continues to jump the horses in the school in addition to their normal work, jumping over poles and grids. His place in our team has been evident with a number of the novice hurdlers jumping very smoothly and efficiently,…
Alizee De Janeiro has developed into a Kelso specialist and added to her tally when winning the Cyril Alexander Memorial Novice Handicap Chase. With possibly her best run to date she battled back at the end and despite a mistake at the last would not be denied. Congratulations to her owner Debs Thomson who has been so supportive of the game mare.
Bialco is owned by our good friends from…
Elmono continued his good form at Musselburgh, winning the three mile handicap chase under Blair. Making a cruical swift move up the inside after the turn into the straight, Blair stole some lengths, and won to loud cheering from his owners, Gerry And The Pacemakers. They are pictured in the winners enclosure.
The yard was split over who would run the best between Royal Reserve and Kelpies…
No racing for ages then lots of meetings all at once.
Musselburgh was hit hard by first the frost and then the equine flu issue and it is wonderful to have two days racing there to look forward to.
Gerry Macgladery is a big supporter of Musselburgh and he runs his quirky handicap hurdler Max Liebermann in the two mile four furlong novice hurdle. Dropping back in trip we try a visor…
