Another good day racing with a deserved double for the team.
Order Of Thistle has run to a good level over two miles and stepping up to three miles at this sharp track really suited him. Given a peach of a patient ride by Blair he hurdled efficiently and led in the home straight just keeping a game challenger at bay. With this win under his belt he should go on in both novices and handicaps.…
A soaking wet day at Ayr but some good runs to brighten our day.
Haul Us In is a most genuine and brave mare and she tried her hardest to make all under top weight in the three mile hurdle. Sticking on grimly is was heartbreaking to see her beaten at the post but a delight that she has come back from time off in such great heart. She loves the heavy ground and may now go chasing. She is…
A very happy 2020 from all here at Lucinda Russell Racing!
We had five runners today at Musselburgh all running with credit. Exit To Where enjoyed being handy in front and although he was headed three out he rallied to be third, showing a good attitude. In the same race Emirat De Cantana knocked off the rust with an improving round of jumping and this run should put him spot on next time.
We had a most satisfying win at Kelso with the wonderful grey Bialco. Ex French the eight year old loved the conditions and galloped away to win by three lengths. We were delighted that one of The Vikings, Morten Buskop had flown in from Denmark to support Bialco and we are planning some nice targets for the hurdler through the spring.
We had an excellent return to the track for Behindthelines…
A stunning morning this Christmas and a quick efficient team to get the horses worked, exercised, mucked out, brushed off and fed before we could go for our Christmas lunches.
A team of just fifteen came in and the horses who may race in the next week all had a canter around the fields, on the woodchip or carpet gallop while the others had forty five minutes walking or in the field. We do…
It has been a good week on the yard with the yard party providing lots of chat and laughs and the horses all working well on the gallops, finding the good humour infectious. We have three horses ready to take their chances tomorrow.
At Haydock the ex French Eeyore has her first run for us after a break. Trained previously by Macaire she has some hot form to her name resulting in a handicap…
Ballyare nearly had a dream win for us this afternoon at Newcastle in the six furlong nursery handicap. Given a patient ride, he was flying at the end and was so unlucky to lose out by a nose. A strong, good tempered and genuine colt he has loved the gallops at Kilduff and he should train on nicely.
While Steven and Derek were at Newcastle the rest of the team were applying facepaint. tattoos…
We were realistically happy with our runners at Carlisle on Sunday, with two thirds and a fourth placing.
Misfits looked back to himself physically with some bold fluent jumping and he travelled much better in his race. He could not quicken up the hill at the end, but his third place in a higher grade race was meritous and he has some nice targets in front of him over the next month or so.
Saturdays have always been work days for us but with all of our jockeys in we had a morning of schooling as well. At Kilduff we warmed up around the fields then jumped Flutter Down, Buddha Scheme, Max Appeal, Sky Khan, Last King Of Wales, Grand Morning, Magnum, Slainte Mhor, Dr Hooves, Operation Overlord, Misfits, and Bialco. It is a credit to Scu's jockey training that we had twelve riders schooling…
Speak Of The Devil is a dear horse but it is taking him time to fully get together and mature; today he took another step forward when second in the three mile handicap chase at Newcastle. Still a novice against handicappers he showed his greenness when blundering at the second fence, the open ditch, but I thought that Stephen gave him a perfect ride, allowing him to get back into a rhythm and then…
