A brilliant front running ride from Blair saw Prince Dundee win his second chase for County Set Three and John McNeill. In the famous Lie Forrit colours, Dundee has gained in confidence on the good ground and his jumping was foot perfect today. He could have more to give as he continues to improve.

Big River ran a blinder in the Scottish National to be fifth. On the unfavourable good ground, he was hampered twice, once at the first, and then also by a faller, causing him to be further back than ideal. However, with his usual tenacity, he continued and battled back in the straight to be a fast finishing fifth. He is undoubtedly a decent stayer and he will be better on soft ground. He will have…
I have always loved the Scottish Grand National and while we have been second and placed in it we have not won yet, tomorrow we have one of our best chances of doing so.
Big River, pictured, had a slow start to the season but his latest run at Cheltenham when staying on to be fourth has reinforced that the longer trip should suit him. He has plenty of class and as long as the ground is safe…
We have just the one runner tomorrow at Ayr with Voix D'Eau taking on a quality field in the Class One two and a half mile handicap chase. Voix has been in some of the top races this winter, but is really much better on good ground and while he is a good each way price his best days will lie this summer on good ground.
At home we have plenty going on. A couple of horses are getting ready…
Make It Happen, pictured, showed his love for Kelso as he returned there to win over 2m2f, the race that he had won last year. A horse with a couple of little quirks he finds this trip ideal and stayed on past the leader in the home straight. It was a super win for his patient owners Wilma and Gordon Wright and Jeremy Mitchell who should have a fun summer with Mac, and for jockey Thomas Willmott…
A marvellous effort from One For Arthur to be sixth in the Grand National has lifted the yard and confirms that when met with challenges we can pull together and make the best of our horses.
Racing is an incredible sport, encompassing the love of horses, the true spirit of sport and providing all the emotions along the way. On Friday we hit the depths, when, having jumped around the Topham…
For the next few days keep in touch with all the action and news of our runners and horses on our Facebook page Lucinda Russell Racing. We will include some live cam action from the yard, gallops and Aintree
Having had plenty of racing there has been a lull over the past few days which has given the yard some time to focus on runners for the rest of the month.
Obviously, we are working hard to prime One For Arthur for the National, but we have other Aintree entries and plenty due to run next week too.
Forest Des Aigles and Voix D'Eau are both aimed at the Topham Chase, over two and…
Emirat De Catana stepped up on his previous form to be fourth in the novice hurdle at Newcastle today. More relaxed in front and jumping well he was outpaced over the shorter than ideal trip but galloped to the line and will improve on this run over a longer trip. He is pictured working at Kilduff last week with Hugo. Izzy's Champion was rather keen dropped in but he also rallied in the home straight…
Today we had a press day organised by Scottish Racing and including journalists and film crews from ITV and BBC1. As ever the team here had the yard and horses looking fabulous, and Matthew had bacon and sausage rolls ready for everyone. Pictured are some of the team that go to produce the horses and winners here.
Tomorrow we have two novice hurdlers at Newcastle, Izzys Champion and Emirat De…
