It's The Little Things

Sunday's are usually relaxed on the yard as the horses have a day off unless they are racing later that week, but today there is an extra excitement as the Cheltenham Festival starts on Tuesday.

We have two entries that are likely to run; Big River on Tuesday in the Ultima and Mighty Thunder on Thursday if he gets in to the Pertemps. Mighty needs five horses to come out and we will know…

Max Appeal Wins On Debut At Ayr

We were justifiably delighted with the run of Max Appeal who won the bumper this afternoon at Ayr for One Team One Dream. A big chasing type with a strong pedigree the five year old was green but galloped away from his rivals in the closing stages to win on his debut. Anthea Smythe who bred Max, and her team of friends have a super type on their hands and we are looking forward to the future with…

Seconds At Newcastle And Pre Carlisle

A productive day at Newcastle with three novices all showing plenty of potential.

Haul Us In won her mares novice chase but then did not jump so well at her next chase so we were keen that she returned to full confidence and indeed she jumped well, leading for all of the race but after the final fence. She will come on again for the experience and looks an ideal four mile type next season.

Slainte…

Looks Like Murt Second As A Busy Week Comes To An End

Looks Like Murt, pictured, was second at Kelso yesterday in a true run two mile novice handicap chase. Having had two non completitions on his card Murt needed to have a clear round to qualify for some later season targets and today was just what we needed. To be fair it is a mile short of his optimum trip so the way that he quickened up is impressive, and I was very pleased with his jumping. He…

Gallops Scans And Kelso And Doncaster Preview

An effective morning on the yard with Cheltenham contender Big River having a strong piece of work on the grass; he is entered at the Cheltenham Festival in the Ultima handicap chase on Tuesday 10th, and the Kim Muir handicap chase on Thursday 12th and we will decide on Sunday which he goes for.

One For Arthur is in good form and had an exercise ECG yesterday he is pictured with Rachel Jago…

Misfits And Celtic Flames Double Up At Musselburgh

We are so grateful to Musselburgh for putting on the extra fixture today as we had an excellent day and it is well deserved for the whole team here after a wet and miserable past week.

Misfits, pictured, showed plenty of sparkle in first time cheekpieces to win the three mile chase, nearly run out of it by a staying on Shanroe Street. It is due rewards for the County Set Four and Keith Hunter…

Blooriedotcom Wins Again At Musselburgh

You cannot keep a good horse down and today we had a brave and genuine win from Blooriedotcom who keep his position despite a loose horse trying to run him off his line. We are delighted for his owners and for the team here who have battled with the elements, getting wet and cold but keeping the horses warm, fit and content through last week's storm and snow. It has been a great achievement.

Pre Musselburgh

At last, the weather seems to be relenting and we can get back to the main aim of racing horses, with two meetings at Musselburgh tomorrow and Thursday and a Kelso and Doncaster this weekend.

Our Wednesday Musselburgh runners start with two in the three mile hurdle; Island Heights making his awaited comeback from over a year off and Emirat De Cantana. Island Heights has run some cracking…

Places At Musselburgh

We had some excellent runs at Musselburgh where the ground ended up holding and soft, and there were some pretty wintery conditions during racing.

Lucky Flight confirmed that he is a bright prospect when second in his first handicap, and just third time over hurdles, jumping swiftly and despite the worsening conditions he battled well in front until passed. He should progress from this run…

Carlisle, Musselburgh and An Arthur Update

A better run from Emissaire who was so unfortunate to be cannoned into by a faller beside him, stopping him in his tracks and relegating him five lengths behind the field. He tried to stay on and while a short head fourth, he was then promoted to third after the winner was disqualified. He is going the right way.

At Musselburgh tomorrow we have six runners taking advantage of the meeting…
