Looks Like Murt ran a super race at Ayr on his hurdles debut bowling along in Derek's hands and hurdling proficiently. His staying on third bodes really well for the future and he could pick up a nice novice hurdle before the end of the season.
Sammy B returned to form with a staying on third place at Ayr, to the delight of his owner and breeder, Geoff Brown. Having been a fostered foal…
We were delighted with Mint Gold who won the novice hurdle this afternoon at Carlisle. Looking much more settled ridden behind a wide margin leader, he jumped impeccably and fought out a close finish with bravery and determination. He looks to be shaping in to a nice chasing type for his owners Mark and Susie Russell and he should have more good days in front of him.
We were also very pleased…
We have five runners at Carlisle tomorrow.
We start with Present Flight, a horse with ability who has been running well without winning recently. We are trying a step up in trip fo this strong chaser, and we use seven pound claimer Thomas Willmot to take off some weight.
Next we have Mint Gold in a novice hurdle; Mint is another with ability but he has been a bit free on the track…
It has been raining in Kinross and we have been fitting in plenty of schooling while the ground is soft. Pictured are Bialco and Grand Morning both have been jumping regularly over fences, and Grand Morning should be back on the track on Sunday at Carlisle as long as the ground is soft. We also jumped One For Arthur, and Big River, (see the video on the home page.) Lost Frequency, Crumbs, Max Liebermann,…
We are delighted to add to the team with the quality Goldwell gelding Offtheshoulder.
A winner at Cragmore on his debut, this is a tall good moving gelding with lots of scope. Highly recommended to us by his trainer, Sean Doyle we saw him just after he won his point to point when we were in Ireland, intercepting the lorry taking him home in a service station outside Portlaoise. Trotting…
Ryalex was fourth at Carlisle yesterday just making an error two out which cost him his momentum, however, he is running most consistently and with some softer ground and a little ease in the handicap he should be able to win again before the spring. Misfits moved into an attacking position two out but could not go through with his run and is better than this. I have a suspicion that the recent…
A brave run from Highland Hunter on ground that was too lively for him, but, having settled this time, he stayed on to be a closing fifth. He came home with a bruising cut on his leg, and we will treat this and keep our fingers crossed for a very wet Cheltenham Festival, where Hunter holds an entry for the Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle.
It has been a tiring and tiresome week with the fuss…
It was a good run from the four year old Order Of Thistle at Kelso this afternoon to come fourth beaten just over two lengths in a tight bumper. Settling after half a mile he relaxed at the back of the field before getting a good run up the inner in the last furlong, just failing to reach the leader. He has a great attitude and looks the type to be a decent stayer in the future. He is pictured in…
So after a week of biosecurity, temperature taking, endless swabs and running the two yards separately, we were informed this afternoon that we were clear to resume racing.
It has been a tough week for everyone connected to the yards. The extra workload for all, especially those on the ground whose horse care has been top class, and the stress imposed by extra regulation and not knowing…
Late last night we were informed by the BHA that there had been three positive cases of equine influenza in vaccinated racehorses. To prevent the risk of it spreading further all meetings were cancelled today.
There is no indication yet to how long racing will be affected. Decisions on if racing can take place on Friday will be taken later this evening.
All trainers who had horses…
