Despite it being a downtime for jumps racing the yard continues to be a hive of activity. With a mixture of some horses in training and some pre trainers on their trotting weeks we still have twenty five horses in work and plenty of things for the team to get on with.
Our Goffs store sale purchase, Thunder In Milan was broken in by Stephen then had a few weeks on the carpet gallop, jumping in the school, and yesterday had a canter up the main gallop. He is now on a month holiday to absorb all that he has learned. He has an incredible attitude and with a strong pedigree he should be a top class horse for the stable and Allson Sparkle.
Kez, who has been leading Thunder in his work, has a new project with the arrival of Storm, Geoff Brown's three year old who has been broken in by Angie and is now here for some pre training. He is a good 16.2 already and one of the nicest young horses that we have had from Geoff; I hope that he is as talented as some of the others.
Meanwhile, the painting and yard updating continues; Ronnie has erected the new stocks which are in the Therapy Room and can be used by Eugenio for minor veterinary operations as well as for physio treatments by Stefi Duff and the team here. They are pictured beside the water treadmill, with Effet Special having his daily workout with Carey.
Sky Khan loves the treadmill with its heat lamps and he is primed and ready for Aintree tomorrow. We are hoping that the worst of the rain has gone through Liverpool as Sky will be best on good to soft. He drops in grade and has to carry top weight, so we use Thomas to take off a few valuable pounds. If the going is not too soft he will run a big race.
